Pere Rovira specialized in Soil Science at the Faculty of Biology, where he received his Ph.D. in Biology in 2001, with a thesis dedicated to the characterization and dynamics of soil organic matter in Mediterranean forests. From his work on soil organic matter, he started working on organic amendments and fertilizers, particularly in commercial humic products. His work about obtaining and characterizing these amendments has been done in close collaboration with commercial manufacturers. His interest in wood chemistry relies on the potential use of wood residues, more or less decomposed (by composting), as source material for organic fertilizers, biostimulants, and humic-like amendments for the enhancement of plant growth. His CV includes 64 papers in SCI journals, plus 5 in spanish or catalan journals, 2 book chapters and more than 30 presentations in International and National Congresses.
